The Guardian has explored what the abandonment of two of the 25 planned regional commissioning support services means for the Government’s NHS reforms. The report also questions how the move could affect both quality and financial stability of the health service. The results of tests conducted by the NHS Commissioning Board has revealed a further nine planned regional commissioning bodies require “more rapid management” to stop them from also failing.

An opinion article in the Scotsman has argued technology will improve the nation’s health, and described how e-health could potentially “revolutionise” healthcare delivery. The article, by the Head of the Public Sector at KPMG in Scotland, says three things are required for e-health to be properly implemented: A clear strategy; a strong focus on areas which would deliver the most benefits; and the need for health professionals and patients to be in the lead, rather than follow a top-down change.
