Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO is a dark art. SEO is free. Both statements are commonly held mistruths…

The value of a good position in search engine results pages (SERPs) is undeniable on the browsing behaviour of your target audiences. Good SEO starts at ‘home’, that is, your primary company domain should be optimised with good meta data, a strong URL architecture and linking structure etc.

Second, you’ll need to wrap your core company information in engaging key word optimised content. For most companies, the core web pages containing information on products and services tend not to change that often. Therefore, look to create engaging content that is relevant to your target audience that complements what your company provides.

Lastly, consider what strategies you need to employ to encourage other websites to link back to your site’s content in the form of ‘backlinks’. This is the true currency of SEO. Analyse and segment your spheres of influence and then consider what content you can offer in order to encourage in bound links to your site.

We’ve summed all this up in our diagram below. As you can see, SEO is neither a dark art nor free, as it will require a purposeful, well-resourced strategy…
