BBC’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ finalist, Kirsty Swain, is encouraging people with hearing difficulties to follow their dreams in a new video case study produced by Media Safari.
Suffering from hearing loss from birth and diagnosed as partially deaf when she was 12, Kirsty was embarrassed to wear her hearing instrument. Later in life, Kirsty struggled to find a hearing aid that could keep up with her active lifestyle that included dancing, running and swimming, preferring instead not to use one when she performed.
Now unveiled as one of the first in the UK to wear a new waterproof and shock resistant hearing instrument from Siemens Hearing Instruments, 30-year old Kirsty is determined to be a positive role model for others with hearing loss. In her video case study, Kirsty discusses how Aquaris is helping her pursue her stage career and encourages others to fulfil their dreams.
“Aquaris is absolutely brilliant. It adjusts to any situation I am in whether it’s the bar, the studio, on stage or watching TV on the couch. I can also swim, dance, run and jump in the shower without thinking. When I’m in the studio, I am able to hear the music and teacher’s voice clearer than ever before,” says Kirsty.
